Job description
Overview

The Fat Duck Restaurant is a popular and vibrant award-winning gastropub located in Te Anau on the edge of Fiordland National Park. We have recently received the award for "Best Gastropub in New Zealand". We are open 5 days a week (Wednesday–Sunday) for dinner from 5pm, with a healthy work-life balance that leaves time to explore the Fiordland area.

We are looking for a permanent, full-time experienced Front of House Team Member who can work in a fast-paced environment, make customers smile, and be part of a great team. Team culture, a willingness to learn, and progression are key for us.

The candidate will be available for opening and closing shifts, as well as weekends. While the role encompasses working both the Bar and Floor, we would prefer the main experience to be in the floor section.

Note: we will only be hiring candidates from within NZ.

What we offer
  • Industry-leading training and professional development
  • Great remuneration including weekly performance bonuses if targets are met
  • A clear pathway for growth and promotion within the business
  • Strong systems in our workplace that clearly define expectations and assist team members to perform at a high level
  • A professional workplace whose culture is supportive, encouraging and engaging
  • Assistance finding accommodation in the area if needed
Responsibilities
  • Using our digital systems and apps for daily and weekly operations
  • Providing a high level of service; full training in our service systems will be provided
  • Working alongside and assisting junior team members
  • Assisting the managers to set up the restaurant, and assisting with bookings and seating in quieter periods
  • Being involved in weekly meetings; we operate an Open Book Management model, so you will be involved in financial operations and planning
What we’re looking for
  • Someone with a great personality who will go out of their way to make customers happy
  • Someone who can keep up in a busy restaurant, especially in the Summer months
  • A person who enhances our team culture
  • A person who is experienced and confident dealing with customers, and also working alongside junior team members
  • Someone who is open to learning, as we provide growth and development opportunities through our Business Coaching programmes
