Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites applications for a Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation and service across hospital kitchen, patient services and café. The role is a full-time, 40-hour per week position with availability across 7 days.

You will assist with food prep, portioning, and timely meal distribution to wards, while ensuring dietary needs and high standards of hygiene are maintained. A NZ Food Safety Certificate and healthcare food services experience are desirable.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in a kitchen or catering environment.
• Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• New Zealand Food Safety Certificate (NZQA 167/168).
• Previous healthcare or hospital food services experience.

Aufgaben

• Assist with food preparation, portioning and meal distribution to wards.
• Support preparation and service of special dietary meals following procedures.
• Provide friendly patient and café service; explain menu options.
• Assist with café operations, including food prep, service, and maintaining a clean environment.
• Follow food safety legislation and safe storage practices.
• Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas.
• Receive and store deliveries, rotate stock and minimise waste.
• Follow WHS procedures and report hazards.
• Collaborate with team to ensure meals are delivered on time.
• Communicate respectfully with patients, whānau and colleagues.
