Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU is seeking an experienced Front of House Team Member for a well-regarded hospitality venue in the Wellington region. You will join a fast-paced restaurant, café, and retail environment, delivering exceptional service and supporting daily operations.

You will take orders, handle payments, prepare beverages, assist with service, manage bookings, and help train new staff, while upholding health and safety standards and presenting a superb customer experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in hospitality, café, restaurant, or retail operations.
• Experience taking customer orders and processing payments.
• Barista experience and the ability to prepare quality hot beverages.
• Strong customer service and communications skills.
• Experience working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Good administrative and organisational skills.
• Confident using POS systems, bookings systems, and other digital platforms.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Professional attitude with excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility when required.
• Eligible for New Zealand employer-sponsored employment where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service in a restaurant, café, and retail environment.
• Take customer orders accurately and process payments using POS systems.
• Prepare and serve coffee, hot beverages, and other drinks.
• Assist with food, beverage, and retail product service.
• Maintain presentation and cleanliness of front-of-house areas.
• Prepare service areas before opening and complete closing procedures.
• Restocks supplies and ensure products are displayed appropriately.
• Manage customer inquiries, bookings, and reservations.
• Assist with staff rostering and daily operational coordination.
• Support onboarding and training of new team members.
• Handle customer feedback and resolve complaints professionally.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining service standards.
• Follow workplace health, safety, and hygiene procedures.
• Collaborate with the team to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
