Job summary

John Jones Steel is a leading structural steel fabricating enterprise in New Zealand with over 60 years of experience. We are seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to service and repair our fleet of equipment and vehicles, diagnose faults, and handle site breakdowns across the South Island.

The role includes pre COF/WOF inspections, arranging testing, and mentoring apprentices as required. The ideal candidate will have hydraulic experience, a Full NZ Class 5 licence, and a strong commitment to

Qualifications

• Experience in service and repair of a wide range of equipment (light/heavy).
• Fault finding and diagnosis on fleet and plant.
• Maintaining fleet safety and compliance in the field.
• Pre COF/WOF inspections and testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out service and repair on fleet equipment and plant.
• Diagnose faults and perform timely troubleshooting.
• Attend site breakdowns and perform maintenance as required.
• Conduct pre COF/WOF inspections and arrange testing where needed.
• Take vehicles to testing stations for compliance inspection.
• Oversee apprentices when required and mentor junior technicians.

Due to an ever increasing workload we are now looking for another Fleet Maintenance Technician to assist with our fleet of equipment/vehicles and plant

What we are looking for is someone with experience in:

• Service and repair of a wide range of equipment (light / Heavy)
• Fault finding and diagnosis
• Site breakdowns and maintenance work as required
• Pre COF / WOF inspections
• Taking vehicles to testing station for compliance inspection
• Overseeing apprentices (when required)

Ideally you will have the following:

• Hydraulic experience
• Full clean drivers licence (NZ) up to class 5
• W endorsement preferred but not essential
• Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment
• The ability to attend to work out of town when required (South Island)
• Exceptional health and safety practices and lifting methodologies
• Current Site Safe certificate (advantage but not essential)
