Job summary

Auckland Radiology Group is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist on a fixed-term, full-time basis to cover parental leave until December 2027. You will provide an efficient, high-quality MRI service across Auckland branches, ensuring accuracy, safety, and patient-focused care.

Responsibilities include performing MRI imaging, analysis, QC, patient communication, equipment upkeep, and supporting students while contributing to a collaborative, multi-site team.

Qualifications

  • MRI scope of practice with the NZ Medical Radiation Technologists Board or a valid exemption.
  • Advanced knowledge of MRI safety guidelines and procedures and MRI best practice.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality care and a patient-focused service.
  • Proven excellence in delivering patient care with strong interpersonal skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to work collaboratively with radiologists, referrers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI imaging using safe practice techniques and the agreed MRI imaging protocols.
  • Complete MRI analysis in accordance with established standards.
  • Carry out and document Quality Control procedures and report quality issues to the Charge MRI Technologist.
  • Ensure patients are treated with politeness, efficiency, safety and care, with clear explanations of procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and report any equipment issues to the Charge MRI.
  • Train and support students within the MRI department.

This is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity to cover parental leave until December 2027 within the Auckland Radiology Group team. The MRI Technologist is responsible for providing an efficient MRI service of the highest quality at all times, offering a welcoming, accurate and responsive imaging service to patients, referrers, and funders. We are looking for an experienced MRI Technologist to join our hardworking team across our Auckland branches and contribute to an efficient, high-quality MRI service. This fixed-term contract provides an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in a dynamic, multi-site environment while making a genuine difference to the health outcomes of Aucklanders.

A day in the life of this role could look like:

  • Performing MRI imaging using safe practice techniques and the agreed MRI imaging protocols
  • Completing MRI analysis in accordance with established standards
  • Carrying out and documenting Quality Control procedures according to the Quality system, and reporting any quality issues to the Charge MRI Technologist
  • Ensuring all patients are treated in a polite, efficient, safe, and caring manner, and providing accurate explanations of procedures
  • Ensuring equipment is maintained, and notifying the Charge MRI of any equipment breakages, breakdowns, or malfunctions
  • Training and supporting students within the MRI department
