Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Consultant Nephrologist for fixed-term cover at Dunedin Hospital, Oct 2026 to Jun 2027. The role is 0.5 FTE with occasional travel to Southland and a pro rata salary between NZD 198,386 and NZD 282,645.

You will deliver inpatient and outpatient nephrology services, lead ward rounds, oversee the dialysis unit, and participate in audits, teaching and CPD. On-call responsibilities apply.

Qualifications

• FRACP or equivalent nephrology qualification.
• Vocational registration or eligibility in Nephrology with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Deliver inpatient and outpatient nephrology services.
• Lead ward rounds and manage patients.
• Oversee renal dialysis unit and training.
• Support home haemodialysis model.
• Assess and prepare patients for renal transplantation.
• Provide outreach clinics including Southland.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, teaching, research and CPD.
• Participate in the on-call roster.
