Job summary

Bathurst Resources Limited is seeking a Fixed Plant Operator/Electrician to support the Coal Handling and Processing Plant (CHPP) at Stockton Mine. You will operate and monitor the CHPP, respond to electrical issues, and contribute to planned maintenance in a collaborative, safety-first team environment.

The role offers 12-hour rotating shifts on a 4:3 roster with relocation and accommodation support, as well as private medical and life insurance options.

Qualifications

• NZ Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) is required.

The Stockton Opencast Mine is located close to the coast on a plateau in the Buller coalfield, 35 km north of Westport. This is one of New Zealand’s largest mines with a long history of coal production and produces high value coal for export to the world’s leading steel makers.

About you:

We are looking for a practical, safety-focused Fixed Plant Operator/Electrician to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at our Coal Handling and Processing Plant (CHPP).

This is a varied, hands-on role combining plant operation with electrical support. You will help keep the CHPP running smoothly, respond to electrical issues and contribute to planned maintenance and shutdown work. Full training in CHPP operations will be provided by our experienced crew.

Day to duties will include:

• Operating and monitoring the CHPP to support safe, reliable production.
• Responding to electrical faults and plant breakdowns.
• Completing electrical maintenance during planned shutdowns.
• Monitoring plant performance and identifying opportunities to improve reliability.
• Working closely with a small, experienced crew where teamwork and flexibility matter.

What you will bring to the role:

• New Zealand Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).

• A practical, flexible approach and willingness to get involved across the plant.
• The ability to work well in a close-knit team.
• Mining experience, maintenance process knowledge or process-control experience would be a strong advantage.
