About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced Fitter/Welder to join our team in Christchurch. Ideally the applicant will have a good mechanical knowledge and will be able to help with other roles in the workshop at times.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Welding repairs to damaged trailers requiring service MIG/TIG working in all positions
  • Mechanical servicing & breakdown repairs
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures to assess repair work needs for customers
  • Engineering tasks such as fabrication and chassis repairs
  • Helping and guiding apprentices
  • Hydraulic cylinder removal and repair
  • Hydraulic hose replacement and manufacturing
  • Minor painting of repairs
  • Brake, axle, and suspension repairs

To be successful in this role you will also have:

  • A minimum of 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Trade certification in an engineering field
  • The ability to complete and pass an all-position weld test in flux core
  • A responsible attitude to workplace safety while carrying out tasks & maintaining the workplace environment
  • Ability to work overtime if required
  • An awesome work ethic & attitude
  • Class 5 licence an advantage
  • Electrical knowledge an advantage
