Job summary

Noventis Talent Solutions is seeking skilled Fitter & Turner (Machinist) for long-term roles in New Zealand. You will machine, assemble, maintain and repair mechanical components across industrial environments, reading drawings and working to tight tolerances.

Role requires 3+ years of hands-on machining and a strong commitment to safety, with a valid driver's license and fitness for hands-on mechanical work.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner (or equivalent machining experience).
• Minimum 3 years hands-on machining, fitting and mechanical assembly experience.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerances and measurement techniques.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and work with accuracy.
• Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Commitment to safety and maintaining a clean, organised workspace.
• Valid driver's licence and physical fitness for hands-on mechanical work.

Responsibilities

• Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses and other machine tools.
• Perform precision machining of metal components to tight tolerances.
• Diagnose faults, perform maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Assemble and install shafts, bearings, gear systems and mechanical assemblies.
• Basic welding (MIG, TIG or arc) and light fabrication to support fitting and repair work.
• Quality control using micrometers, vernier calipers, dial gauges and other precision instruments.
