Job summary

Applicants should have a trade qualification as Fitter & Turner and at least 3 years' hands-on machining and assembly experience, with precision drawing interpretation, safety focus, and a readiness for hands-on work.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Fitter & Turner or equivalent machining experience.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on machining, fitting and mechanical assembly experience.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerances and measurement techniques.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Operating lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses and other machine tools.
• Precision machining of metal components to tight tolerances.
• Diagnosing faults, performing maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Assembling and installing shafts, bearings, couplings, gear systems and mechanical assemblies.
• Basic welding (MIG, TIG or arc) and light fabrication to support fitting and repair work.
• Quality control using micrometers, vernier calipers, dial gauges and other precision instruments.
