Job summary

WSP is seeking a Team Lead in Fire and Life Safety to shape the NZ practice from one of our main centre locations in Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton or Wellington. You will lead and develop the Fire and Life Safety team, ensuring technical quality and strong client engagement across diverse projects.

The role emphasizes strategic leadership, business development and effective resourcing, with a focus on delivering high-quality engineering solutions and commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in fire & life safety engineering.
• Established people leader who enjoys coaching and developing capability.
• Strategic thinking, sound judgement and translating goals into practical action.
• Strong business and commercial acumen, including project and financial management within professional services.
• Experience identifying and converting business development opportunities and building client relationships.
• Clear, engaging communication and presentation skills across audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Fire and Life Safety team, providing direction and resourcing across projects.
• Maintain technical quality, embed learning and share expertise across the wider business.
• Guide complex project delivery, build trusted client relationships and contribute to business growth.
• Contribute to proposals, governance, market development and client presentations.
