About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity with the Ministry’s Financial Accounting team. The Financial Analyst (Fixed Assets) reports to the Manager Financial Accounting and contributes to the delivery of the Finance function with Te Pou Rangatōpū and in conjunction with Corporate Finance. The role is part of a team responsible for financial reporting and compliance to ensure school property financial transactions and obligations are correctly reported. This role requires interactions with a diverse range of internal stakeholders. The purpose of this role is to provide technical accounting for the school property assets, monthly balance sheet reconciliation, and preparation of capital financial reports.

Salary range: $85,225 - $103,071 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

You will have a working knowledge of fixed assets and capital expenditure accounting within a large capital-intensive organisation and experience in systems management and implementation to support capital programmes and Fixed Asset information.

You will have a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance, and ideally be working towards a Chartered Accountancy (or equivalent) qualification.

You will also offer experience:

  • analysing technical issues and making business decisions with financial impact;
  • demonstrating a high level of Excel skill in the management/ analysis of large spreadsheets with complex detail. Power BI experience helpful; and
  • managing relationships and consultation with internal stakeholders.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
