Job description

The Finance Manager contract delivers the complete financial and management accounting function for an established business that has a foreign listed parent company, utilising your technical accounting experience.

The role combines technical accounting with commercial partnering, offering you a good level of variety, reporting directly to the locally based General Manager, with access to the Group CFO based in Auckland.

The Company is an established business that supplies quality products to New Zealand retail and commercial customers. The company operates out of modern premises in West Christchurch and maintains strong relationships with a broad range of suppliers.

The Role includes:

• Producing annual accounts, monthly reporting packs, P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, and all GL reports
• Delivering monthly and quarterly financial updates and providing commercial support to General Manager and senior leadership team
• Ensuring taxation compliance and maintaining internal controls to protect shareholder investments
• Playing a key role in the delivery of the annual FYE accounts and subsequent audit process
• Managing foreign exchange transactions including trade finance deals, settlements, TT payments, hedging, and currency forecasting
• Managing accounts payable, payroll collation and monitoring
• Creating an annual budget with business leaders and monitoring target delivery through monthly meetings and quarterly reports
• Overseeing daily cash flow management and medium-term forecasting
• Guiding and supporting the office and accounts coordination team, managing escalated accounting and HR matters

Your Profile should include:

• CA/CPA qualified with a strong financial management and reporting background, including external audit management and tight reporting deadlines
• Experience with cash flow forecasting and foreign exchange (FX) management
• Commercially minded with a good attention to detail to identify opportunities for improvements
• Good working knowledge with ERP systems and reporting tools
• The ability to quickly pick things up and be pro-active in your approach to engaging with the business
• Very strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with non-financial stakeholders easily
• Holding full, unrestricted working rights for New Zealand and being based in Christchurch
