Job description

Auckland One Rail are seeking a skilled Finance Manager to lead and oversee our finance operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and business alignment. This is a key leadership role within our organisation, partnering closely with our Executive Leadership Team to drive informed decision-making and sustainable growth.

As the provider of passenger rail services in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland. we are looking for a strategic and detail-oriented finance professional ready to make an impact as soon as possible on a permanent, full-time basis. Our office is conveniently located on Queen Street in the city centre, a short walk from the Waitematā/Britomart train station, with free train travel making for a convenient cost-effective commute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, including preparation and review of profit & loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Lead annual budgeting and business planning processes.
  • Oversee monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage internal and external audit processes and support the preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Safeguard the integrity of financial information and accounting systems.
  • Develop, review, and implement financial policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations, including preparation of direct and indirect tax returns.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to support ongoing business operations.
  • Analyse financial and operational data to provide insights that support business performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to strategic business initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted finance business partner to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the Finance team to achieve their full potential.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, invoicing, claims, reporting and collections.

About You

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of financial results, maintaining the integrity of our accounting systems, and ensuring the Finance team consistently delivers to the highest professional standards. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise, strategic insight, and people leadership.

To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong mix of technical expertise, industry experience, and personal attributes that support collaborative leadership and business impact.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ).
  • Significant New Zealand experience in a corporate environment.
  • Experience in the services industry is essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in financial management, statutory compliance, and audit oversight.
