Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a Finance Business Partner to deliver accurate, timely financial advice to support operational decision-making for the transport and infrastructure division. You will collaborate with stakeholders to influence performance and drive strategic success.

Day-to-day you will lead planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and insightful analysis. You will translate data into meaningful insights, identify risks and opportunities, and coach non-finance colleagues

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Experience in a similar finance partnering or commercial finance role.
• Strong knowledge of financial frameworks.
• Ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to think critically and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with business leaders and the wider finance team.
• Lead the planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for designated departments and/or business units.
• Deliver high-quality financial reporting and insightful performance analysis to drive informed decisions.
• Act as a trusted advisor—challenging, supporting, and promoting sound financial practices across the business.
• Understand key business drivers and proactively identify risks, opportunities, and solutions.
• Coach and develop non-finance colleagues to build financial capability across the organisation.
