Job summary

You will analyse performance, translate numbers into insights, and support budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term planning. A CA qualification or progression toward it would be advantageous and you will build trusted relationships across the organisation.

Rotorua Lakes Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated finance professional to step into the role of Finance Business Partner within our Business Support Group.

This role is all about working closely with managers and project teams to provide financial insights and advice that help shape decisions and deliver better outcomes for our community.

You’ll bring a solid grounding in finance, a curious and analytical mindset, and the ability to build trusted relationships across the organisation. In return, we’ll provide opportunities to strengthen both your technical and advisory skills.

Day to day, you’ll partner with business units and projects to analyse financial performance, translate the numbers into meaningful insights, and support teams with budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning. You’ll also have the chance to contribute ideas to improve financial practices and ways of working across Council.

We are looking for someone who is confident interpreting financial information, able to communicate it clearly, and motivated to work alongside others in a collaborative, solutions-focused way. A CA qualification, or progress toward it, would be an advantage.
