Job description

Take ownership. Get hands-on. Build something better.

  • Work outdoors with industry-leading gear
  • Use your smarts, not just your strength
  • Great salary + training + team that backs you

If you've got a solid work ethic, a sharp eye for detail, and enjoy getting out in the field — this is your chance to take the lead on work that matters.

At Southroads, we're looking for a Field Technician / CCTV Pipe Inspector to join our high-performing team. It's a role with real variety: you'll be locating underground services, inspecting drainage and pipe networks with specialist CCTV equipment, taking photos and footage, then compiling detailed reports for our customers. You will also be responsible for service locates, including telecom and power utilities.

This is a great role for someone who can balance practical, physical work with methodical thinking. One moment you'll be out in the field lifting manholes, the next you'll be reviewing footage and writing up your findings - so accuracy, consistency and pride in your work are essential.

We'll give you the tools, training and support - you bring the attitude.

What's in it for you?

  • Competitive pay and job security
  • Top-quality equipment and ongoing training
  • Staff discounts on a wide range of products
  • A career path, not just a job

We're a progressive civil construction contractor with deep roots in Southland and Otago. With a team of over 250 and one of the most modern civil fleets in the country, we're proud to be part of the HW Richardson Group - a business built on family values, fairness and doing things right.

At Southroads, you're not just a number. You're part of a tight crew where your work is recognised and your growth is backed.

What you'll need:

  • Previous field-based or trade experience
  • Good communication and solid computer/reporting skills
  • A methodical mindset and keen attention to detail
  • Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work

If you're ready to get stuck in and want to be part of a company where you'll be seen, supported and set up for success, we'd love to hear from you.
