Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a leading agricultural equipment supplier in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, to recruit an Agricultural Machinery Technician. You will maintain, diagnose, and repair tractors, harvesters, planters, and implements on-site for farmers.

This hands-on role requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic skills, with diesel engine knowledge. Independence, good communication, and flexibility during peak periods are important; a company vehicle and training

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Agricultural Machinery Technician or similar heavy equipment repair role.
• Strong knowledge of tractors, harvesters, and implements.
• Proficiency diagnosing diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and software.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license; willingness to travel within Queenstown region and work extended hours during peak periods.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on agricultural machinery such as tractors, combines, planters, and sprayers.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance and servicing according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software.
• Overhaul engines, transmissions, and hydraulic components.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Maintain accurate records of service, repairs, parts used, and labor time.
• Provide technical support and advice to farm operators.
• Operate and test machinery after repairs to ensure full functionality.
• Manage service tools and equipment effectively.
