Job summary

PickNZ is seeking a Field Team Leader to manage a regional team of Seasonal Sample Collectors, focusing on outdoor sample collection in the Bay of Plenty region. You will recruit, train and lead the team to ensure timely, accurate testing for Zespri’s assurance programme.

The role is fast-paced, physically demanding and requires strong people leadership, problem-solving, and a proactive approach to safety and performance.

Qualifications

• Previous staff management/supervisory experience in a similar role.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• A genuine commitment to the safety and wellbeing of your team.
• A love for the outdoors and physical work.
• Comfortable with technology such as smartphones and productivity software.
• Full Class 1 driver’s licence and clean driving history.

Do you enjoy working outdoors? Do you thrive leading a small team, meeting deadlines and delivering great results? We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Field Team Leader. The role is Dec – May, and between Feb - May the team operates 7 days a week. The role is fast-paced and physical but most importantly, the successful candidate will be a people leader who enjoys getting stuck in, building a positive team culture and seeing their team succeed. Our teams collect kiwifruit samples from Bay of Plenty orchards and beyond to be tested in our Mount Maunganui lab as a key component of Zespri’s assurance programme.

THE ROLE

The Field Team Leader will lead their own regional team of Seasonal Sample Collectors, taking responsibility for recruiting, training and organising their own team. This is not a desk job. You’ll spend around 75% of your time out in the orchards, collecting samples with members of your team ensuring that quality, safety and efficiency targets are achieved. You’ll support your team, solve problems as they arise, keep the operation moving and make sure work is completed accurately and on time. You’ll play an important role in building a team culture where people communicate openly, support each other, have fun and take pride in achieving great results.
