Job summary

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Generator Maintenance Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel/petrol engines, electrical systems, and generator control logic.
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, multimeters, and hand tools.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage a service route.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for travel.
• Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in various weather conditions.
• Relevant technical certifications are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on generators.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with generator sets using diagnostic tools.
• Repair and replace faulty generator components (engines, alternators, control panels, fuel systems).
• Test generator performance under load and ensure compliance with specs.
• Install new generator systems and connect to existing power infrastructure.
• Respond to emergency service calls to restore power generation.
• Maintain detailed service records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
• Adhere to safety policies, especially around high-voltage equipment.
• Provide basic training to clients on generator operation and checks.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables.
