The Opportunity

Our Bay of Plenty based service is seeking a fulltime qualified and experienced Counsellor to join the team. This role will see you use your practice skills working with children and adults in both 1:1 and group settings.

You will be responsible for ensuring service provision is delivered to a high standard whilst building relationships with the local community, and working as part of a team where professional development is greatly valued. This role will be primarily based at the Tauranga office however may require occasional travel to the Whakatāne office.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role we need to know you have:

  • Commitment to work from a culturally responsive perspective and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • Experience in counselling both children and adults
  • The ability to develop and maintain relationships in the community
  • Outstanding communication and people skills alongside great self-management and case recording skills
  • A recognised Counselling qualification
  • Proven skills in trauma informed approaches and strength based practice principles
  • The ability to engage with families where there may be care and protection concerns for children
  • Membership with NZAC or NZCCA
  • Strong ability to work across cultures and adapt to change in the current social service environment
