Job summary

ER Dental LTD in Tauranga Central is seeking an Experienced Dental Assistant to join our busy, patient‑centred practice on a full‑time basis. You will support dentists chairside, prepare rooms, and help deliver high‑quality care in a modern environment.

Hours are Monday to Friday 8–5, with Saturday shifts 8–2 on a roster basis; time and a half and day in lieu apply to rostered Saturdays. We offer competitive remuneration, opportunities for development and a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

• Qualification in dental assisting or substantial clinical experience
• Infection control, sterilisation and health and safety knowledge in dentistry
• Proficiency in dental radiography techniques and radiation safety protocols
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach to care
• Attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation and record-keeping
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional dental team
• Physical capability to perform the duties of the role, including standing for extended periods
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning in the dental field

Responsibilities

• Assisting dentists during clinical procedures, including chairside support and instrument management

• Taking and processing dental radiographs (X-rays) with attention to safety and accuracy
• Recording patient treatment notes and maintaining accurate clinical documentation
• Managing patient flow and scheduling appointments to optimise clinic efficiency
• Providing clear patient communication and reassurance during dental procedures
• Maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations and practice protocols
• Supporting the dental team with administrative tasks as required
• Keeping up-to-date with modern dental practices and assisting with professional development initiatives

About the Role

We are seeking an Experienced Dental Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis at our Tauranga Central practice in the Bay of Plenty. This is a key position within our clinical environment, where you will provide essential support to our dentists and contribute directly to the quality of patient care we deliver. The role offers the opportunity to work with modern dental technology and a professional team, whilst developing your expertise further in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Monday - Friday: 8-5

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For

• Relevant dental assistant qualification or substantial demonstrated experience working as a dental assistant in a clinical setting
