Job summary

Universal College Of Learning (UCOL) in Manawatū is seeking an experienced Executive Director Operations. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead People and Culture, Digital Services, Facilities, Health and Safety, and Corporate Assurance and Risk to drive the organisation ahead.

You will influence strategy, support specialist managers and build robust operating models to enable learners, kaimahi and communities. An executive leadership background in a similar sector is essential.

Qualifications

• Substantial executive or senior operational leadership experience within a complex organisation.
• Experience leading and developing specialist managers and integrating enabling functions.
• Broad understanding of People and Culture, Digital Services, Facilities Management, Health and Safety, and Corporate Assurance and Risk.
• Experience leading organisational change and developing effective operating models.
• Strong governance, public-sector accountability and regulatory compliance knowledge.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and te reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership across People and Culture, Digital Services, Facilities Management, Health and Safety, and Corporate Assurance and Risk.
• Work with functional managers to set priorities, budgets and outcomes.
• Strengthen service quality, efficiency and organisational capability.
• Support workforce planning, recruitment and people services.
• Lead digital strategy, cybersecurity, systems and technology investment.
• Oversee facilities services, capital works and asset planning.
• Sponsor health and safety initiatives and risk management.
• Lead enterprise risk, assurance, procurement and business continuity.
• Drive transformation and future-focused process improvements.
• Contribute operational perspectives to ELT decisions.
