Job summary

Westpoint Earthmoving in Kumeu, North Island, seeks an experienced excavator operator for a casual role with potential to move to full-time hours. The candidate should read drawings, operate various excavators, and contribute to a range of sites.

Reliable, punctual, with good time management and the ability to work both in a team and independently are essential. You must have own transport and be willing to work extended hours or weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators of various sizes.
• Read and interpret drawings for job planning.
• Maintain and look after equipment; perform general labouring as needed.
• Drill and prepare for retaining walls when required.
• Adapt to varied and sometimes challenging site conditions.
• Coordinate with team; communicate clearly with colleagues.

Requirements and Responsibilities

• We require an experienced person who can operate various sized Excavators.
• Must be able to read drawings.
• Reliable, punctual, self motivated with good time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Takes great pride in their work and works to a consistently high standard at all times.
• Must be prepared to help with general labouring when required, confident in drilling for retaining walls etc.
• Looks after and is confident in maintaining their equipment at all times.
• Enjoys working on varied and sometimes challenging sites.
• Has a sense of humour.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Able to work as part of a team or unsupervised if necessary.
• Prepared to work extended hours or weekends when required to meet deadlines.
• Must have your own transport.
• Note : This is more a casual role but could involve full time hours based on the job requirements at the time so the successful applicant would need to be flexible with the hours.
