Air New Zealand seeks an Environmental Assurance Chapter Lead to drive governance, compliance and continuous improvement across our operations in New Zealand. Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in environmental compliance, management, assurance or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience developing and leading environmental audit and assurance programmes.
  • Experience managing environmental risk, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Understanding of EMS and governance frameworks.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical skills using data and assurance insights.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and regulators.
  • Strong communication of complex environmental matters.
  • Collaborative leadership across a large organisation.

Whatyou'llbe doing
  • Lead Air New Zealand's environmental compliance and assurance programme, ensuring regulatory obligations are met across the business
  • Provide strategic oversight of environmental governance, management systems, audits, and assurance activities that strengthen organisational performance
  • Identify, assess, and manage environmental risks, supporting informed decision making across operational and corporate teams
  • Lead environmental incident investigations and ensure corrective and preventative actions are effectively implemented through to closure
  • Monitor environmental performance using data, assurance findings, and emerging trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Provide trusted, evidence-based advice to senior leaders on environmental obligations, regulatory requirements, and risk management
  • Partner across the organisation to embed consistent environmental management practices that protect our operations, reputation, and communities.
Whatwe'relooking for
  • Extensive experience in environmental compliance, environmental management, assurance, or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, and compliance obligations, including experience working within complex operational environments
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading environmental audit and assurance programmes
  • Experience managing environmental risk, incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong understanding of environmental management systems and governance frameworks
  • The ability to interpret complex legislation and translate regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes
  • Excellent analytical skills, with experience using data and assurance insights to identify risks and improve organisational performance
  • Proven ability to influence and build trusted relationships with senior leaders, operational teams, regulators, and subject matter experts
  • Outstanding communication skills, with confidence providing clear, evidence-based advice on complex environmental matters
  • A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to drive positive change across a large and operationally complex organisation.
