Job description
Overview

Twizel Area School is seeking a passionate and skilled English teacher to join our kura, with the ability to teach social studies an advantage. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students from Y7–13 in a well-resourced environment that values innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach across multiple year levels in a well-resourced, future-focused rural school at the heart of the stunning Mackenzie District.

This is a full-time, fixed term maternity leave position, starting on 28 January 2026 and ending on 16 October 2026.

Area/Subjects

Area / composite (Years 1–15), Certificated teacher – English, Social sciences Isolation Allowance

The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and the ability to create an engaging learning environment for all students. The position is suitable for teachers of all experience levels, and we welcome applications from beginning teachers who have an understanding of NCEA.

Terms and salary

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the ASTCA. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $61,329 to $103,086, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. The actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
