Job summary

Kernel is a fast-growing fintech in New Zealand, seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performance engineering team. You will focus on people leadership, coaching and development, while partnering with product and senior leaders to deliver meaningful customer outcomes.

The role supports a flexible hybrid setup with days in the office and some work from home. You'll bring 7+ years in people management, a solid understanding of C#/.NET, and a passion for mentoring and modern

Qualifications

7+ years' people management experience in a commercial environment.
Technical understanding to support teams without hands-on coding.
Experience with C#/.NET and modern software practices.
Experience in agile environments and delivering with clarity.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach and support an engineering team across multiple disciplines.
Create high-trust, high-performance environments.
Run people rhythms: one-on-ones, feedback conversations, development plans, performance support and clear goal setting.
Partner with Product, Engineering and senior leaders to support delivery and unblock teams.
Help hire, onboard and grow engineering talent as Kernel scales.
Support engineers to make good technical decisions and maintain high standards of quality.
Collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering to deliver customer outcomes.
