Job summary

ACCIONA Infrastructure NZ is seeking a Lead Design Manager to drive concept and tender design for complex New Zealand projects. You will act as the single point of contact for design consultants, overseeing commercial and technical performance and securing client approvals.

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will guide a multidisciplinary team through delivery, influencing time, cost, safety and quality outcomes across major infrastructure tenders and projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, architecture or construction management.
• Experience delivering complex design-and-construct projects.
• Proven design management in major construction or infrastructure.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and design consultants.
• Strong stakeholder, communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept design and tender design programs for each bid.
• Manage design consultants, including contracts, variations and performance reviews.
• Review design outputs for constructability, cost, safety and tender compliance.
• Coordinate design, construction and estimating teams to keep bids aligned.
• Control design scope and budget, and lead value engineering.
• Identify design risks early and brief the Bid Manager and stakeholders.
• Secure design approvals, then lead the design team into delivery.
