Job summary

Tonkin + Taylor is seeking an Engineering Hydrologist / Water Engineer to apply hydrology and engineering to infrastructure, flood risk and climate resilience across Aotearoa and the Pacific. The role suits an intermediate- to senior-level practitioner with consulting, local government, or water-related experience, working within a multidisciplinary team.

This full-time position offers variety across hydrology, hydraulic modelling, reporting and client engagement, with offices in Auckland,

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering.
  • Experience in hydrology, flood estimation or catchment modelling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with hydrological analysis and modelling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Chartered status, or progress toward chartership, would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake hydrological investigations and rainfall-runoff modelling.
  • Support flood risk management and climate resilience studies.
  • Assist with hydraulic structures, stormwater systems and water infrastructure design.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and design documentation.
  • Work with multidisciplinary project teams across the business.
  • Engage with clients, councils and project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to proposals and client relationship growth.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical initiatives.
