Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora seek an Endocrinologist to join the Southern district team. The role supports endocrinology and diabetes services across Southern, ideally based at Southland Hospital with travel to other sites as needed.

The position is part-time (0.65 FTE) and permanent, with ASMS MECA 2026 salary pro rata. Outpatient focus, teaching and service development are key elements of the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist outpatient endocrinology and diabetes services.
• Support registrar and nurse-led clinics.
• Provide clinical advice and consultative support to colleagues district-wide.
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement.
• Participate in weekday on-call roster (8:00–16:30).
