Job summary

WeCan Services Ltd, a Hamilton-based employment and work-readiness provider, seeks an Employment & Pathways Consultant to facilitate work-readiness learning and one-to-one mentoring. You will support participants through employment preparation, placement and ongoing pastoral care, while building strong employer relationships and sourcing opportunities not publicly advertised.

Qualifications

• Confident, engaging facilitator who motivates groups and individuals.
• Connects with rangatahi, adults, whānau, employers and community partners.
• Creates safe, positive learning environments with clear expectations.
• Confident networking, marketing candidates and asking employers for opportunities.
• Understands local labour market and matches people to roles.
• Resilient, proactive, organised and target-driven.
• Balances encouragement with accountability and professional boundaries.
• Works independently within a small, committed team.
• Culturally responsive and respectful with Māori, Pacific and diverse communities.
• Holds a current NZ Class 1 Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging group workshops and practical employment-readiness activities.
• Adapt facilitation to different learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
• Coach and mentor participants to identify strengths, goals and pathways.
• Develop practical employment plans and help participants overcome barriers to work.
• Support CV development, applications, interview preparation and workplace readiness.
• Build employer relationships and source vacancies, trials and opportunities.
• Profile participants positively to suitable employers.
• Coordinate interviews, pre-employment checks, and placements.
• Provide pastoral support to participants and employers after placement.
• Manage an active caseload, meet targets and maintain outcome evidence.
