Are you an experienced Employment Lawyer looking to take the next step in your career? Do you thrive on providing expert legal advice and navigating complex workplace issues? We are seeking talented and driven Employment Lawyers with 3-10 years of post-admission experience for opportunities in the public sector.

You will provide high-quality legal advice and representation on a wide range of employment law matters. Depending on your skillset and interests, work could include employment disputes, compliance issues, personal grievances, change processes, workplace investigations, and more. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your expertise in a dynamic and supportive environment.

  • Advising clients on all aspects of employment law, including contracts, policies, disciplinary processes, restructuring, and compliance with New Zealand employment legislation.
  • Representing clients in mediation, negotiations, and litigation before the Employment Relations Authority or Employment Court.
  • Assisting with workplace investigations and resolving disputes effectively.
  • Providing strategic advice to government agencies and/or private sector clients on employment-related risks and opportunities.
  • Keeping up-to-date with changes in employment law and ensuring clients remain compliant with legislative requirements.
  • 3 – 10 years of post-admission experience (will consider more senior experience)
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation (e.g., Employment Relations Act 2000, Holidays Act 2003)
  • Proven experience advising clients across both contentious and non-contentious matters
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Admitted to practise law in New Zealand
