A healthcare provider in New Zealand is seeking an Emergency Medicine Specialist to join a team in Gisborne. This role offers a unique lifestyle, clinical variety, and a chance to contribute to addressing healthcare inequities in a culturally rich environment. Ideal candidates should have experience in emergency medicine and a desire to work within a community-oriented healthcare setting.
The Opportunity
Are you ready for a role that blends professional challenge with an incredible lifestyle? We are seeking Emergency Medicine Specialists (FACEM or equivalent) to join our team in Gisborne. Permanent full-time positions are available.
Want to make a real difference in Emergency Medicine somewhere quintessentially Kiwi? Is work-life balance important to you?
Tairāwhiti is one of the most beautiful, sunny regions of Aotearoa New Zealand. Home to just under 50,000 people (around 80% in Tūranga-nui-a-Kiwa, Gisborne), the region is unique, culturally rich, and proudly home to a high Māori population (55%). While the rugged geography provides endless opportunities for surfing, cycling, camping and adventure, it also brings challenges and opportunities in delivering healthcare across a wide region.
Here, you'll not only bring your Emergency Medicine expertise, but also make a tangible contribution to addressing healthcare inequities. You will have opportunities to deepen your knowledge of Te Reo and Te Ao Māori and to play a key role in helping us become more responsive to the needs of tangata whenua.
As the hospital expands, further opportunities are anticipated in leadership, aeromedical retrieval, medical education, and EM outreach. The Emergency Department is provisionally accredited for ACEM training, with our first ACEM trainees commencing in January. We are also accredited for Rural Hospital Medicine Training.
Who we are
Gisborne is the primary healthcare facility for the East Coast of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Why join us?
