Job summary

Ventia in New Zealand is seeking Apprentice Electricians to join our team across transmission, generation and heavy industrial projects. Earn while you learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification while working with skilled tradespeople.

You'll develop practical electrical skills, learn safe work practices, and contribute to critical infrastructure with opportunities for long-term careers within Ventia, including travel to diverse sites and further industry qualifications.

Qualifications

• No electrical experience required but a keen interest in the industry.
• Be reliable, motivated and eager to learn.
• Full Class 1 Driver Licence preferred.

About The Role

As an Apprentice Electrician, you'll work as part of a supportive team while developing the technical skills and knowledge required to become a qualified electrician.

Your Duties Will Include

• Assisting with the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical equipment
• Supporting work on substations, generation assets, and industrial electrical systems

• Participating in both practical on‑site training and formal coursework

About You

• Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions
• Committed to completing an apprenticeship programme
• Safety‑focused with a positive attitude
• Hold a Full Class 1 Driver Licence (preferred)
• No previous electrical experience is required, although any trade, mechanical, or technical experience will be advantageous.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview, complete a basic Maths and English assessment, and take part in a practical hands‑on activity. We're looking for potential, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn, not prior electrical experience.
