Job summary

A leading food solutions company in Mataura is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to join their engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing operations, managing maintenance projects, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering, ideally in manufacturing or food production.
  • Proven leadership in supervising electrical maintenance teams.
  • Understanding of PLC control systems and programming (advantageous).

  • Organise and oversee daily operations, including scheduling of tradespeople.
  • Monitor and respond to plant breakdowns and preventive maintenance needs.
  • Drive team effectiveness with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset.

Overview

Mataura, a Beef only plant, has an opportunity to join our engineering team as an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor at our Mataura Plant.

Responsibilities
  • Organise and oversee daily operations, including scheduling of tradespeople
  • Take a hands‑on approach—supporting staff to ensure timely job completion
  • Monitor and respond to plant breakdowns and preventive maintenance needs
  • Manage in‑house electrical R&M projects and systems
  • Lead with strong communication and respected leadership
  • Drive team effectiveness with a proactive and detail‑oriented mindset
Qualifications
  • NZ registration and a current EWRB practising license
  • 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering, ideally in manufacturing or food production
  • Proven leadership in supervising electrical maintenance teams
  • Relevant electrical engineering qualification or advanced trade (NZCE Electrical or equivalent)
  • CMRP certification (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards and health & safety regulations
  • Ability to drive operational excellence and collaborate effectively
  • Familiarity with maintenance best practices
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills for leading teams and contractors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS software
  • Understanding of PLC control systems and programming (advantageous)
