Overview

We are excited to announce an excellent opportunity based in New Plymouth, created as a result of work we've secured with Powerco.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and systems in electricity distribution, commercial, and industrial networks.
  • Joint and terminate LV cables (up to and including 1kV) and assemble electrical panels, junction boxes, ring main units, switchgear, and transformers.
  • Carry out electrical testing and use approved methods to ensure systems are in safe working condition.
  • Perform network switching, isolating equipment to carry out maintenance or restore service when competent to do so.
  • Ensure that all health, safety, and environmental requirements are met while delivering excellent service to our customers.
  • Contribute to the team’s performance, ensuring work is done efficiently and to high standards.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Fitter/Electrician with a passion for safety and delivering high-quality work.

To succeed in this role, you will need
  • New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent
  • Current EWRB Practising Licence
  • Extensive hands-on experience with HV/LV cable installations, substation maintenance, and switchgear servicing
  • Solid background in HV switching, transformer testing, and cable fault repair
  • A strong understanding of health and safety procedures, switching protocols, and electrical standards
  • A valid Class 1 NZ driver’s licence (Class 2 an advantage)
Bonus if you’ve had experience with
  • Testing and commissioning of 11kV/33kV systems
  • Load break switch, auto-recloser, and regulator installations
  • Work planning and contractor oversight
