Job summary

GEA in Auckland is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our high-performing engineering team. You will deliver electrical and controls solutions for complex process plants, from design through installation support and commissioning.

You will collaborate with project managers, customers, panel builders and internal disciplines to ensure safe, on-time, on-budget delivery to GEA standards and HSE requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in industrial electrical engineering or project delivery (food/dairy/beverage).
• Experience producing/reviewing electrical docs (drawings, cable schedules, datasheets) with EPLAN knowledge.
• Working knowledge of LV power distribution, motors, VSDs, MCCs, and industrial comms.
• Proficiency in PLC/HMI systems, field instrumentation, and design management.
• Familiarity with AS/NZS 3000 and IEC standards; strong safety focus.
• Experience supporting procurement, supervising on-site installation, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs and documentation for process plant projects (SLDs, cable schedules, I/O lists, equipment datasheets).
• Design and specify MCCs, field I/O panels, motors, VSDs, instrumentation interfaces, and LV power distribution.
• Translate customer requirements into technical specs for suppliers and contractors.
• Support tendering and project execution by defining electrical scope, costing, and procurement.
• Coordinate external design resources (EPLAN/AutoCAD, switchboard/panel builders) for quality and consistency.
• Ensure designs meet standards and statutory requirements (AS/NZS 3000, IEC) and GEA HSE/quality.
• Provide on-site technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Maintain project docs: drawings, calculations, test records, change/variation support.
• Collaborate with automation, installation and project teams for safe, integrated plant outcomes.
• Travel nationwide to support installation, commissioning and handover.
