He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Our Conventions Sales team is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join us as a Business Development Executive in a permanent part-time role.

He kōrero mōu: About you

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and at least 3 years of experience in sales or a related field, preferably within the MICE/Events/Hotel/Tourism industry (experience in this industry is preferred but not essential).

  • Strong customer service ethic and a sense of personal ownership and responsibility are essential.
  • You should be self-motivated, capable of managing multiple projects independently.
  • Understanding the sales cycle and proactively engaging with customers to inform, assist, and create positive experiences is key.
  • You will be committed to providing a comprehensive experience for both new and existing customers.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, along with comfort in using technology to support your work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responding to sales inquiries via the Auckland Conventions website, email, and phone.
  • Developing new relationships proactively with prospective clients.
  • Maintaining relationships with existing clients and responding to their inquiries.
  • Collaborating with support staff to prepare proposals, site inspections, quotes, and contracts promptly.
  • Following up on event opportunities to convert them into contracts.
  • Conducting site visits with clients as needed.
  • Providing clients with relevant venue-related information.
  • Ensuring smooth handover of confirmed events to the Event and Technical Coordinators.
