Associate Functional Safety Engineer (E,I&C)
Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Lead the technical and project delivery of Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (E,I&C) engineering design projects, with a focus on delivering Safety Critical Element (SCE) design, SCE design verification, and Safety Instrumented System (SIS) designs. You will be working with a team of Industrial Engineering experts, working across a range of sectors including wood and fibre, dairy and food processing, gas and chemical sites.
You will be working with a team of over 250 engineers and industry experts passionate about the positive impact they have through the projects they deliver. This role provides significant career development opportunities through the variety of client sectors you will be working across in the Industrial market as well as the variety of project types you will have exposure to. A key focus of this role will be applying your technical E,I&C expertise, understanding site and client requirements, delivering design, verification and managing client relationships. Other key tasks include:
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced engineer who is registered (chartered) and certified in functional safety (TUV FSEng or CFSE), as required by our clients. Successful candidate would also need to demonstrate broader E,I&C capabilities that could be used in more general forms for other industrial sectors.

In this role, you will be part of the team working with clients, contractors and vendors to deliver a diverse range of projects across New Zealand, Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
You will have the opportunity to both learn from our leading Principals, mechanical experts, delivery leads and project specialists, as well as having scope to have your say and contribute. You will have input into how projects are delivered, being encouraged to make suggestions and voice your thoughts on solutions.
This role can be based on Beca’s Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga or Christchurch offices with our Industrial team diverse and passionate engineers, mechanical experts, designers and project delivery teams. To be successful in this role, you will be an E,I&C Engineer looking to make a difference with a passion for project delivery excellence. You love to learn, be pragmatic, share knowledge and are someone who can bring a fresh perspective. You will also have an enquiring mind and be able to problem-solve and think laterally. You are a qualified Engineer with a passion and good problem-solving skills. You have grown your technical E,I&C experience through working on projects for heavy industrial, food and beverage processing facilities, or related industrial sites. You will have experience and understand the detailed design process, as well as being able to understand how designs and solutions impact on site. Experience working on-site building relationships with operations teams and the related requirements of being on site, will be an advantage.
