Job Title: Educational Support Worker
Location: Christchurch
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are working with a specialist SEN school in Christchurch to recruit a dedicated Educational Support Worker to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who thrives on making a real difference in the lives of pupils with diverse learning needs and behavioural challenges.

About the Role

As an Educational Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 5–19 with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with class teachers and therapists to deliver tailored educational and therapeutic programmes.
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them access the curriculum and stay engaged in learning.
  • Assist with developing pupils' communication, social skills, emotional regulation, and independence.
  • Help manage challenging behaviours with sensitivity and consistency, using de-escalation techniques when needed.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews and reports on pupil development.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every pupil feels valued.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs is essential.
  • Backgrounds in education, youth work, mental health, psychology, care or similar fields are highly welcomed.
  • A calm, nurturing approach with a strong commitment to inclusion and child development.
  • Ability to remain patient, resilient, and solution-focused under pressure.
  • Confidence working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Have anupdated CV(covering thelast ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) andan enhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
