Through science, learning & training, and strengthening our relationship with Te Ao Māori, we strive for excellence in animal care & welfare, conserve wildlife in the wild and nurture a lifelong connection with nature to enhance the well-being of our communities.

We are looking for an Education Operations Manager - Conservation Learning to join the conservation advocacy and engagement department. This multifaceted role reports to the Conservation Learning and Community Engagement Manager and has a team of Conservation Learning Facilitators (Kaupapa Māori) as direct reports.

The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the delivery, growth, and strategic direction of Auckland Zoo’s conservation learning programmes. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations of onsite, online, and outreach learning initiatives while supporting broader advocacy and engagement goals. The role requires a strong focus on delivering both mission and financial outcomes, team leadership, and cross-team collaboration.

Minimum Requirements

It is essential that you have:

  • A teaching qualification or equivalent proven teaching or training experience
  • A university degree in natural or social science or another relevant field

You need to be a resident in Aotearoa, New Zealand, or Oceania and already eligible to live/work in Aotearoa, New Zealand. We are unable to support visa applications for this role.
