Tairāwhiti REAP invites an experienced education leader to drive the delivery and continuous improvement of learning programmes across rural Tairāwhiti, ensuring accessibility and relevance for whānau and communities.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will provide strategic and operational leadership, develop the capability of a committed team, manage funded contracts and budgets, and ensure strong learner outcomes and contractual accountability.

Qualifications

  • At least five years’ educational leadership or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of adult and community education and the NZ education environment.
  • Strong people leadership and staff development capability.
  • Experience managing funded contracts, budgets and reporting.
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori learner success.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop education programmes and learning pathways.
  • Champion learner-centred practice, educational quality and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, coach and develop education staff, tutors, contractors and volunteers.
  • Manage funded contracts, budgets, reporting, compliance and audit requirements.
  • Monitor learner outcomes and use data and feedback to improve programmes.
  • Build strong partnerships across education, iwi, hapū, government and community.
  • Identify new opportunities that respond to community aspirations and needs.

Job description

Lead education programmes that make a difference across rural Tairāwhiti. Provide educational leadership, develop the capability of a committed team, and shape responsive, high-quality learning that reflects community aspirations.

Tairāwhiti REAP is a locally led, not-for-profit organisation supporting education and community development from Pōtaka to Kotemaori. They deliver lifelong learning opportunities that are responsive, community-led and grounded in local context.

Tairāwhiti REAP has recently reset and reframed the Education Manager role, with a clearer focus on educational leadership, programme quality, people capability and strong delivery.

Reporting to the Tumuaki | Chief Executive, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the education portfolio, leading the planning, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of programmes while ensuring strong learner outcomes and contractual accountability.

Key responsibilities

This is a permanent, full-time position. Gisborne is the preferred base, however candidates based elsewhere within Tairāwhiti may also be considered.
