About The Role (Your Why)

The People and Culture Advisor is responsible for supporting process improvement, career development, retention and engagement initiatives to promote Datacom's internal culture. This role will assist in projects that analyse, develop and implement strategy for the human resources function in line with the broader Datacom direction. This role supports the People and Culture Manager and the broader team to improve overall business functions.

Our offices are based in Auckland and Wellington. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!

What You'll Do
  • Support the implementation of strategy for the functional area, in line with the broader Datacom strategy
  • Provide high-level and timely support to leaders and staff on all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, employment relations, information management, reporting, remuneration, and benefits
  • Ensure effective use of people and culture initiatives and process compliance across the organisation
  • Analyze cultural data and recommend strategies to improve employee engagement
  • Align people and culture initiatives with cost, service structures, productivity, and delivery targets
  • Build and foster trusted relationships with business leaders and employees, providing practical advice on employment and people matters
  • Advise on employment relations matters with support from the ER team
  • Provide internal reporting and analysis

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Human Resources, or related discipline, with 4+ years of HR experience
  • Experience as a People and Culture Advisor, preferably recent or current, seeking a change of pace
  • Significant experience in ER and employee initiatives within a complex industry
  • Proven ability to develop and execute programs supporting positive culture and employee experience
  • Experience in developing organizational policies and procedures for efficiency and business response
  • Extensive knowledge of employee and industrial relations frameworks
  • Knowledge of people management best practices and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage complex issues with evaluation of multiple factors and current business trends
  • Strong judgment in methods and evaluation criteria for results
  • Negotiation skills to ensure win/win outcomes
