Te Ako o te Tui Early Learning Service, based at the University of Auckland, seeks a passionate Kaiako for a fixed-term 12-month role. This ECE position is located in our under-2s room with a 1:3 ratio, up to 30 tamariki, and rotates across age groups as needed.

The service operates within Auckland City Campus with a strong emphasis on relationships and Te Whāriki. You must be NZ-qualified and certificated, experienced across age groups, and committed to te reo Māori growth and Treaty of

Qualifications

• NZ qualified and certificated kaiako
• Experience across age groups in mixed-age setting
• Strong pedagogical knowledge with Te Whāriki
• Planning, assessment and compliance
• Willingness to grow te reo Māori

Responsibilities

• Be a New Zealand qualified and certificated teacher who demonstrates genuine care for tamariki
• Foster holistic learning and development across mixed-age groups
• Design and implement intentional teaching strategies
• Apply Te Whāriki to curriculum and responsive teaching
• Uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and grow tikanga awareness
• Build respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and staff
• Collaborate within a team and contribute to evaluation and improvement
• Manage planning, assessment and compliance responsibilities
• Engage in professional learning and growth
• Contribute to a professional team culture
