Principal EC&I Engineer

Location: Risley, Warrington

Hybrid working: 3 days office/2 days home

Employment Type: Contract or Staff option

Status Determination: Inside IR35

Rate: Up to £60/hr Umbrella DOE

NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is rapidly growing, offering hybrid opportunities across the country. We aim to build a multidisciplinary team to provide our clients with a broad range of talent.

Supporting a key client, we seek a Principal EC&I Engineer to provide CE&I design support for construction, installation, and commissioning activities at the plant. The role involves working closely with site-based engineering teams and overseeing the main contractor engineering delivery team as part of the Sellafield Ltd Intelligent Customer Engineering team. The position covers all project phases from design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational ramp-up.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Report directly to the CE&I Responsible Engineer, acting as Design Intelligent Customer.
2. Provide independent governance, oversight, and strategic control over engineering design and delivery across multiple work packages and systems.
3. Offer package/system-specific design support.
4. Provide periodic on-site support for CE&I design delivery and oversight.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

1. Experience with plant process control systems, including PLC/SCADA or equivalent architectures.
2. Knowledge of PES/Software lifecycle, including supporting design and test documentation.
3. Understanding of Concise and its application in the design process.
4. Ability to provide technical support during design close-out, installation, and commissioning.
5. Support for FOB processes and development of engineering solutions with the project contractor.
6. Knowledge of CE Marking and Machinery Risk Assessments.
7. Understanding of contractual practices, preferably with NEC3 contracts or similar.
