  3. Investigating control barrier functions and similar methods for safe autonomous guidance and verification.
  4. Performing formal verification of CPS through runtime and static methods.
  5. Collaborating with the PI’s research group, other ECSE groups, and the space institute.
  6. Presenting findings regularly to Google engineers from the Bittide team.
  7. Drafting papers for publication and presenting results at conferences.
  8. Consulting regularly with the PI on research progress.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 24 months with an annual salary of $87,772, dependent on experience and qualifications.

The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering is a leader in advanced engineering research, working on emerging technologies in aerospace, robotics, autonomous systems, and software, with collaborations involving industry leaders like Google.

Candidate Profile:

  • PhD in Engineering, with focus areas including computer science, aerospace, automotive, or formal systems (candidates nearing completion may apply).
  • Experience with formal methods, mathematical modeling, and verification techniques.
  • Understanding of CPS theory, distributed systems, and practical applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including academic writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in research teams and with external partners.

Supervisory or mentoring experience with students is desirable.
