Job summary

Auckland Council’s Earthworks and Streamworks Monitoring Officer will primarily work on site across the Auckland region, monitoring earthworks and streamworks to prevent soil erosion, sedimentation, and dust from impacting streams and harbours. You will assess potential non-compliances against statutory requirements and take enforcement action where needed while educating consent holders and industry.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning, environmental compliance, or environmental monitoring.
• Experience with earthworks and civil construction; knowledge of relevant regulations.
• Knowledge of Guidance Document 05 and related legislation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor earthworks and streamworks on site to identify non‑compliances and assess impacts against statutory requirements.
• Provide enforcement where required and educate consent holders and industry on consent conditions.
• Assist in developing environmental outcomes and maintaining safe, compliant sites.
