About this work area

As a Graphic Communication Specialist your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributing to positioning the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishing in your local market.
  • Taking a leading role in overseeing the complete range of customer store communication.
  • Applying your extensive knowledge and understanding of people’s life at home and their buying behaviour to improve graphic communication inside and outside the IKEA store to facilitate the buying process.
  • Ensuring IKEA graphic communication is clear, consistent, understandable, uncluttered, and correctly placed.
  • Using your graphic design skills, IKEA Concept and IKEA visual and copy identity to create and implement graphic solutions that support commercial priorities and our visual uniqueness.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate store communication strategies that support a convenient shopping experience by using the knowledge about life at home and shopping behaviour in the local market.
  • Comfortable with the dynamic between hands on work and strategic implementation.

To be considered for this role experience in the following is essential:

  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign & Adobe After Effects. Highly regarded knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere & Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to explain concepts verbally and visual interpretation.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own work to make the most efficient use of available time and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Practical hands-on approach to work.
  • Enthusiastic about assignments and working with others in a team.
  • Knowledge of Te Reo Māori and or Te Ao Māori, with the ability to write and visually represent is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Alignment with IKEA values, with a passion for home furnishings and the ability to integrate equality, diversity, and inclusion practices within the workplace.

What you need to know

  • This role is permanent.
  • The work location for this role once the store is open will be IKEA Sylvia Park & occasionally our external warehouse in Māngere by Auckland airport. Until then, you will likely be based from a temporary office in Auckland.
  • As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts based on store trading hours. You also must have the availability to work alternating weekend shifts.
  • The internal title for this role is Graphic Communication Specialist.
  • The expected start date for this role is 28th July.
  • The first step of the recruitment process will be an application form. If you are successful to the next step, you will be notified via email and be invited to complete a video Interview.
  • As part of the recruitment process this role requires a pre-employment check for final candidates including a reference check and an MOJ check.
  • IKEA Sylvia Park is non-smoking workplace.
  • Car parking will not be provided therefore IKEA encourages all co-workers to utilise public transport whenever possible.
