Job description

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-impact infrastructure projects across the Waikato region.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong background in civil engineering with substantial experience working with local and regional councils and authorities, particularly in consent and planning approval.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will contribute to the design, planning, and execution of a variety of civil infrastructure projects, including residential & commercial developments, 3-Waters, roading, and general infrastructure.

As a senior engineer with local experience, you will help streamline the application and approval process with local councils and help guide the team on regulatory expectations and policies. Your ability to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships with team members, councils/regular authorities, and contractors will be crucial to your long-term success in the role.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of ten years of industry experience. At least five years of experience should include direct collaboration with New Zealand local or regional councils. A deep understanding of NZS standards, the Resource Management Act, and local authority processes is required. You will also need to demonstrate leadership ability, project management experience, and a commitment to mentoring junior staff.

What's In It For You

In return, you'll receive a competitive salary package suitable to your experience level, opportunities for professional development including CPEng support and a pathway to a Leadership or Principal position, and a new and supportive team environment that values collaboration and a good sense of humour.

Flexible working arrangements and a strong commitment to work-life balance.
