Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mid-Level Asbestos Analyst to join our team in Tauranga, New Zealand. In this role, you will conduct asbestos analysis, ensure laboratory accreditation compliance, and adhere to strict quality standards.

  • Perform bulk identification, asbestos in soil analysis (both P/A and S/Q), and fibre counting in the laboratory.
  • Maintain equipment and compliance systems according to ISO standards.
  • Adhere to ISO 17025:2018 standards at all times.
  • Assist with technical and quality tasks as required.
  • Act as a training mentor for internal staff.
  • Participate in proficiency testing programs and ensure satisfactory results.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of all analyses and tests.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest asbestos analysis techniques and safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in asbestos analysis, including bulk identification, fibre counting, and soil analysis.
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025:2018 standards and application in laboratories.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety and health regulations.
  • Desire for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Experience as a Key Technical Person (KTP) for asbestos methods is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications or experience as an asbestos consultant is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with New Zealand health and safety regulations related to asbestos.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
